Residents Afrikaanderwijk

Introduction

On 20 February, a first letter was distributed to all residents and entrepreneurs around the Royal Route. A second letter was distributed on 3 April. This letter contains information about all measures surrounding the route. Read the letter to the residents/entrepreneurs of the Afrikaanderwijk and surrounding neighborhoods here. Parking

From Wednesday, April 26, 8 a.m. to Thursday, April 27, 4 p.m., you are not allowed to park here:

  • Herman Costerstraat
  • Maashaven N.Z. from Astanaplein to Hillelaan
  • Maashaven O.Z.
  • Paul Krugerstraat from Schalk Burgerstraat to Transvaalstraat
  • Pretorian
  • Bananenstraat (from 25 April 09:00 to 28 April 00:00)

This prohibition also applies if you have a parking permit. Loading and unloading is also not allowed. Cars left standing will be towed away. The costs (€ 165) are for the owner of the car. You can avoid these costs by removing your car on time.

Parking for permit holders

From Tuesday 25 April to Friday 28 April you can park your car in sectors 32, 23, 34 and 30.
On this map you can see the sectors. Do you have a disabled parking permit? Then you have already been personally contacted.

Traffic closures

Wednesday, April 26, 10 a.m. to Thursday, April 27, 4 p.m., the following streets will be closed to traffic:

  • Pretorian
  • Paul Kruger Street
  • The intersections Brielselaan-Putselaan and Hillelaan-Brede Hilledijk will remain open.

Closed to traffic on Wednesday, April 26 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM:

  • Maashaven East Side

Closed to traffic on Thursday, April 27 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • Maashaven East side

Erasmus bridge:

The Erasmus Bridge will be closed on Thursday 27 April from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Misuse

Annoyingly parked bicycles, mopeds and scooters along the route will be removed. We advise you to store it temporarily in a different place. Removed bicycles, mopeds and scooters go to the Bicycle Point. The Bicycle Point stores removed bicycles, mopeds and scooters for a maximum of 13 weeks. You will then pay €20 for your bicycle/moped or scooter. See also: www.rotterdam.nl/fietspunt.

Waste containers

On Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 April, a number of containers in your neighborhood will be unavailable or closed. This means that you have to take your household waste to another container. The nearest open container can be found at: www.rotterdam.nl/plattegrond-wijkcontainers.

Other activities

In your neighborhood and along the route, some plant bowls or traffic signs will be temporarily removed. Of course, they will be put back in place afterwards.

Public transport

Some bus and tram lines are diverted due to King's Day. The subway runs as usual.
Visit www.ret.nl for information. The NS runs according to the timetable and also stops at Blaak Station.

Accessibility to shops and restaurants

Businesses in the vicinity of the route can remain open on King's Day. Entrepreneurs should take into account that traffic measures will apply in the area on 26 and 27 April. Motor vehicles (cars, trucks, scooters, etc.) can no longer enter the cordoned off area. This should be taken into account for stocking, inform your suppliers about this.

Frequently asked questions

The king and his family will visit Rotterdam on Thursday 27 April. The Royal family is visiting the Afrikaanderwijk.

The royal route starts at 11:00 am at the Afrikaanderplein. Via the water, the Blaak and the Markthal, the route ends around 13:00 on the Binnenrotte.

The construction work will start on Tuesday 25 April. From Friday 28 April and Saturday 29 April there will be a reduction.
