06-03-2023

Introduction

This year, we will not only be celebrating King's Day in Rotterdam on April 27, but we will already be in the mood on April 19 with a spectacular King's Day Concert. In the run-up to King's Day, we are celebrating a wonderful party with Rotterdam and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. It is a special edition because of the celebration of 10 years Kingship in 010. And in Rotterdam we do everything we can to ensure that everyone can celebrate the King's Day. Because, according to the theme, 'We are all Kings & Queens'! That is why this special Rotterdam edition of the King's Day Concert is open to the public and free of charge. In addition, the King's Day Concert on April 19 marks the start of the City Program and thus 10 days of anticipation for King's Day and the Day After.

The King's Day Concert takes place in the RTM stage of Rotterdam Ahoy on Wednesday April 19 at 8.30 pm. Confirmed artists include Davina Michelle, Winne and Gerard Cox. The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Adam Hickox, plays its own pieces as well as new, surprising arrangements together with the other artists. Tickets are available from Friday March 10 at 10:00 am via this website. The concert will be broadcast on King's Day by NTR on NPO 2 from 8:25 pm to 9:20 pm.

Free access
Traditionally, the King's Day Concert takes place in the month preceding King's Day. Since 2014, the concert has been organized in the municipality where the Royal Family celebrates King's Day. Because of the celebration of 10 years of Kingship, the concert will have an open character this time. This means that the concert is not only accessible to invited guests, but can also be visited free of charge for anyone who wants to celebrate this party.

Line-up
It will be a concert in Rotterdam style. With a diverse line-up of (Rotterdam) artists, crossovers between different dance and music styles, classical and contemporary, accompanied by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Davina Michelle, Winne, Lloyds Company, Imanuelle Grives, Laurien van Rijswijk, Gerard Cox, Sabrina Starke, Gery Mendes, Zaire Krieger, Broederliefde and many more well-known and unknown Rotterdammers show what the city stands for. A colorful, international port city, built by people from all over the world. A city that has itself started again and where many people start their lives (again). Who is unparalleled and where we are there for each other. The concert tells the story of a life and life in Rotterdam. The full line-up will be announced soon.

“Rotterdam cannot be captured in a style, color or taste. That is why we have on stage special combinations of people who together are just as versatile as the city itself ”, says Floris van Delft (artistic director of theater company WAT WE DOEN) and hip-hop artist Winston Bergwijn, better known as Winne, who is responsible for the composition and directing the King's Day Concert.
