Rotterdammers from Ommoord to Pernis are waving their flags!

Introduction
Host city Rotterdam received no fewer than 50 entries from residential buildings and residents from Pernis to Ommoord. So much enthusiasm! A challenge for the jury members of Oranje at Home to choose the 10 most special buildings. That is why two orange wildcards have also been handed out: To the windmill De Hoop in Rozenburg and the refugee boat in the Maashaven. More than 1100 balconies and a lot of Rotterdammers will decorate their palaces with the XXL flags designed by Studio VollaersZwart. This is how Rotterdam, in the run-up and on King's Day, turns orange in all corners of the city, with a touch of green-white-green.
The residential buildings and residents who have won the Orange at Home package are:
1. Residential Building Startmotor - Vreewijk
2. Residential Building Nijeveld - Ommoord
3. Residential building Siloam - Hoogvliet
4. Kruisplein Flat - Center
5. Residential building above the Klooster - Afrikaanderwijk
6. Zomerland II building - Old IJsselmonde
7. Apartment block Koggestraat - Oud Mathenesse
8. Residential Building Pniël - Kralingen
9. Residential Building Wapitistraat - Kralingseveer
10. Residential building De Zwaan – Pernis
In addition to the Orange at Home package, the top 3 will also receive a tailor-made party on April 19. The most enthusiastic entries and striking buildings have been selected for this: A student- and expat complex in Vreewijk, a nursing home in Ommoord and a unique building with special residents in Hoogvliet.
Orange Wild Cards
We also received a number of additional special entries. For example, the refugee boat along the Maashaven and windmill De Hoop in Rozenburg. They didn't quite match our inquiry but were too unique not to put the spotlight on.

“The judging went smoothly. We had some discussions, but due to good arguments we quickly came to an agreement. The winners exactly met what we were looking for. Such as the enthusiasm and pride of the residents, the balconies, and the location. It's great that we also handed out wildcards such as that windmill with the appropriate name: De Hoop! We wish the residents an extra festive King's Day and hope they will have a lot of fun together!"

The jury consisted of Alice Vlaanderen (project director King's Day in Rotterdam), André Hammink (district director of the Municipality of Rotterdam), Reinier Weers (coordinator city program Rotterdam Festivals), Pascal Zwart (Studio VollaersZwart), Annemieke van Wegen-Delhaas (head of City Branding and City Dressing) and Nell Broekhuizen (resident of the winning building of the SINGALONG at home action).
